Shannon Thomas, founder and CEO of Midwest Sports Video has been coaching youth sports for over 30 years. Shannon has coached football, basketball, baseball, softball, swimming, cross country, and track & field and has had athletes in every sport receive scholarship offers to play at the collegiate level.

Many of these athletes and their parents found out as they rose to the high school varsity level that their high school coaches and administrators had very little knowledge of how to get a college coach's interest in a high school student/athlete, much less get the college coach to come watch the student/athlete play.

Shannon learned over the years, the best way to get a college coach's attention is to pick up the phone and call them. Of course, now with the internet, contact information and contacts can be made even faster than before. What he also learned is that no college coach want's a prospective recruit's parent to be the one making contact. Initial contact should be made through a third party(such as a coach, teacher, rival coaches are great) or the student/athlete themselves.

In the past year, he had such a great response from the college coaches he worked with when making skills videos for student/athletes around Missouri that the requests became too much to do on a volunteer basis. Professional videographers were hired and trained when the word of mouth business grew too large. MSV has been producing skills videos in various sports in the Midwest and helping answer recruiting questions that young student-athletes and their parents are going to have.
